Dancing on the Dark Side of the Moon

Strategically disjointed and intentionally non-linear, perhaps - but being charitable this was nearly incoherent. I did watch the whole thing just to be sure. I wished there were something to recommend it, as it wasn't the storyline, the acting, or the nudity and lackadaisical sex. It's the last time I Babaloo.

"DANCING ON THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON"

A Film that Bends Genres

I am constantly amazed at the outlook of director Stephen Vasquez. You can never anticipate what his movies are about and yet you will always be entertained and, more often than not, aroused. His latest from Babaloo Studios is genre defying and unlike anything most of us have ever seen before. We have a lighthouse somewhere in space on which is a spirit guide and Alexi and Micah, two friends. The trio is on some kind of journey.

Asking about what life is like on Earth, the spirit guide explains that it must be seen to be explained and that there are dark . They see different periods of time and learn of secrets. It takes several viewings to really "get" what "Dancing on the Dark Side of the Moon" is about but that is okay since each viewing is an experience. We have psychology, humor, horror and sex.

Alexi (Grayson Lange) is yet to be born, Micha (Luke Allen) seems to be devoid of soul and Pacey (Taylor Caldwell), the guardian spirit, is able to see the future. In charge of everything is "The Boss" (Darren Capozzi) and his evil, sister Asariel control the life of Makayla (Riley Ferris), who.... To understand all of this, you must watch the film. If I were to try to explain how everything comes together (or doesn't) would be to ruin the film for you.

Vasquez has gone out to give us the best of what he has done until now and we immediately sense his maturation as a filmmaker. The characters here are well developed and sex is an integral part of the story. While this may be seen as something of an experimental film, we soon realize that some of it is very real and there is a message. By my not sharing any more of what the film is about, gives the viewer the chance to experience the film and come to his/her/their own conclusions and the fact that you must think about what you see, makes "Dancing" all the better.
