"Sloth" wouldn't have seemed like a promising sin to be the focus of one of the "Seven Deadly Sins" videos--after all, we do like our performers to show some sexual energy. As it turns out, the "sloth" in question has to do with guys who are so lazy that they can't be bothered to do anything except fuck and get fucked, so that works. The first episode is the hottest--Steve Cassidy, lolling naked in bed and looking very masculine, phones out for sex in the form of Lance Gear. Lance is masculine, too, but in a 'cute' way, and the complementarity of the dynamic between them, in bed and then in the shower, is steamy. The next three episodes seem intended to represent fantasies or hallucinations that Steve is having; at the end of the video it's revealed that there's some virus going around town that causes people to lie in bed and fantasize about sex. (If I'd only known, I could have 'called in sick' for the majority of my career.) The first of the fantasies involves street people (J.J. Bond, Mike Radcliff) having sex under a bridge, not a particular fetish of mine. Then there's a news report on the TV that Steve is watching, warning people about a drifter (Chad Johnson) who's going around engaging in the reprehensible practice of sticking his large penis up inside people's butts. Dylan Reece, of course, stands in front of his picture window in a robe that leaves nothing to the imagination (the equivalent of putting a sign out on his front lawn--"Hey, Drifter! Door's Open"), the drifter shows up, and they hook up. Finally, there's a motel guest (Gregg Rockwell) who's too lazy to put on anything on but a towel before wandering out of his room, down the hallway and into the room of Andrew Addams (aka Adams with one D), where their presumed laziness doesn't interfere with some very vigorous fucking. In the first and last scenes, director Thor Stephans (aka Stephens with an E--when you pick a porn name, pick a spelling and stick to it, guys!) has a way with moody, shadowy lighting that nevertheless doesn't conceal any of the action. He does let the shadowiness get out of hand in the concluding orgy, available on the 'Redemption' video that wraps up all seven of the sins, but in 'Sloth' proper it creates a romantically mysterious mood that I like a lot, especially as we're watching Steve take Lance's lance up into his hole, visibly available between those well-developed buns of his, when he lifts his legs. Some scenes better than others, but the first one, in particular, is well worth a look.
