Named the Best Film of the Year by Cahiers du Cinema, and acclaimed by numerous publications, Pacifiction is the mesmerizing - and surprisingly homoerotic - new feature from controversial filmmaker Albert Serra, starring legendary actor Benoit Magimel in an extraordinary performance. On the French Polynesian island of Tahiti, the High Commissioner of the Republic and French government official De Roller (Magimel) is a calculating man with flawless manners. His somewhat broad perception of his role brings him into contact with powerful people in high end environments. He also frequents less-traveled venues where he mingles with the locals. His day-to-day schmoozing is interrupted, however, by a persistent rumors and the sighting of a mysterious submarine off the coast, whose ghostly presence could herald the return of dangerous nuclear testing.
