Writer-director John Maybury's Love is the Devil offers a searing portrait of English painter Francis Bacon (Derek Jacobi). The film focuses on his tumultuous relationship with George Dyer (Daniel Craig), a younger small-time thief who Bacon treats as both rough trade and the ultimate artistic muse.

Reasons to Buy

  1. Daniel Craig does a total nude scene.
  2. Yes, James Bond takes it all off!
  3. And there's more -- he's a gay character in a gay film!

While this is not a new film, we now have a new remastered edition of it (from Strand Releasing) which makes watching it quite a pleasure. When Daniel Craig was cast as the new James Bond there was a lot of interest in "Love is the Devil" because of ... Read More

The dangling piece of skin, didn't improve this yawner. Would have been better if it hadn't been made.

Daniel Craig is a brilliant actor, as evidenced by his performances in such challenging roles in "Infamous" and "The Mother" but he is here in a stylized avant garde film which most audiences will find boring.

Compelling and sexy film. And, the long full-frontal shots of the rough & muscled Daniel Craig (now the new "James Bond") are very compelling themselves.

A must experience. The film sucks you in like the cigarette smoke from Daniel Craig's lips. You feel like a fly on the wall throughout.
